Oui, we’re enjoying more hours of sunshine every day now (at least, when it’s not raining) ! The longest day of the year, June 21, is just around the corner, and with it comes what has now become an important event in France, as well as around the world: the Fête de la Musique.

So we hope that you will join us this June 21, 7:00-9:00 p.m. to celebrate and share our love of music and, of course, the French language and culture. This year we’re making the event particularly special with a variety of performances by our own members.

Some background: The Fête de la Musique, also known as Music Day, Make Music Day or World Music Day, is a music celebration that take place annually on 21 June. The concept of a musical celebration at the solstice was originated several decades ago by the French Minister of Culture at the time (1982), Jack Lang. In the beginning, the festival was a modest burst of musical idealism, but it has gradually become a global success, attracting players and listeners all over the world.

Our fête will take place at the Odd Fellows Hall,  545 Pacific Avenue, in Santa Rosa. The entrance fee is only $10, which will help us defray the cost of the refreshments that will be served. Please RSVP by June 15.

You can register and pay easily right now via either Paypal or a credit card; just complete and submit the form below to complete your payment. Or, if you prefer, remember to mail your check by June 15 to AFSR, 182 Farmers Lane, Suite 200, Santa Rosa, CA 95405.

Either way, please let us know in advance that you will be coming, so we may plan to have the right amount of food and beverages.
