Pétanque Clubs in the Bay Area
The game of pétanque consists in throwing your steel boules the closest possible to the cochonnet. You have to play between 6 meters (18 feet) and 10 meters (30 feet). When you reach 13 points you win the game.
You can play “tête a tête”, or doublettes, or triplettes. It is a fun, social game with great food often for lunch.
There are pétanque clubs in Sacramento, Lafayette, San Francisco and Willits. Near Santa Rosa, we have:
- The Valley of the Moon Pétanque Club in Sonoma (www.vompc.org), 707-258-3450
- The Petaluma Valley Pétanque Club (www.petalumapetanque.com), Ed Pato 707-953-5497
- The Pétanque Marinière in San Rafael (CochonnetMarin.com), Alain Effron 415-479-5820
The cost of a yearly membership varies between $25 and $35.
